What we do

Our Erode Gaushala is dedicated to protecting and preserving the Desi cow breeds, especially the Kangeyam breed which prevails in this region. We shelter destitute, sick, old and non-milking cows. We create awareness that the benefits of Cow are not just limited to milk but extend to cow dung and urine. We promote the knowledge of using these materials for organic farming and better lifestyles..

Cow Shelter & Protection

Both the Cow and Bull are symbols of the most offence less living beings. But what is happening to both of them is scary.
The cow is considered one of our mothers, as she gives us her milk and thus nurtures our health and wellbeing. Just as no civilized person would injure or kill their mother, the Vedas teach that to take milk from the cow and then kill her is the same as killing one’s mother. Similarly, the bull is considered like the father because the bull traditionally helps in the tilling of the fields, and thus is to be respected.
We had taken special care of cows and bulls at our gaushala by providing quality food and enough open space. With a Phenomenal growth of around 900 cows, Gaushala later transformed its activities from just Gau-seva (service to the Cow) to cowprotection and other village development.
Cow protection is not just maintaining cows in a single place; we started distributing to farmers who are the original Gau-Sevaks& Gau-palaks. Around 200 Cows are distributed among the farmers, animal-lovers many has started registering themselves to participate in our mission to protect and develop Kangeyam breed cow.

Milking & Distribution

Milk in India, is not just a drink, it is an elixir. For almost every Indian — rich or poor — the idea of a daily glass of milk holds a potent and emotional charge. It speaks of parental devotion, well-being and health. This faith in the power of milk is well-grounded: it is the primary nutrient for the young and the old. Nearly 63 percent of animal protein in the Indian diet comes from dairy products. For vegetarians, there is simply NO ALTERNATIVE.

Cows are Milked two to three times a day almost at fixed times. Each cow is milked in one sitting within eight to ten minutes. As far as possible, milking is done by the same person regularly. The milking places are kept very clean so as to keep the impurities away. Distribution of milk is done immediately after it is drawn, keeping the time between milking and transporting to the distribution centers to the minimum. All Milk works are done during cool hours of the day.

Industry

In a bid to make Gaushala self sustainable we are manufacturing more than 20 natural products in our Erode Gaushala.
